This strange nickname is the second name of the silver tail, a nocturnal pest whose body is covered with silvery scales. Besides its distinctive color, this small insect (about 1 centimeter / 0.4-inch-long) with a flat body and without wings is recognizable by the 3 hairy filaments that originate on its head. It mainly revolves around high humidity areas like bathrooms, basements, plumbing, etc. The diet of the silverfish is fairly diversified, since this insect is fond of fungi, paper, mold, dust, etc. When going through times, a silverfish can survive without water and food for weeks!
