The groundhog is a very smart animal measuring between 40 and 65 centimeters. Comfortable in natural spaces such as clearings and fields, the groundhog usually makes its home — a dug burrow — in a strategic location where its preferred foods — such as grasses and short plants — are abundant. In urban settings, groundhogs tend to gravitate under patios, balconies or backyard sheds.
